Description
In 1931, Rolex introduced its patented innovation of the first self-winding movement with a perpetual rotor. Together with the first-waterproof case, the Oyster, this is an iconic model for Rolex. The Reference 6509 presented today dates back to 1957 and features a yellow gold case and bracelet and a golden dial.
Condition Report
Watch is in good overall condition with only light signs of wear throughout, as expected for a watch of this age.
Case has been lightly, but evenly polished in the past and the backs of the lugs show some wear from the bracelet.
Dial has yellowed with age and appears to have been relumed long ago with tritium. The lume has aged and matches in color on the dial and in the hands.
Stretch rivet bracelet is marked 9k gold and has an RWC stamp on the clasp.
Bracelet is stretched and shows normal signs of wear.
Movement is running at time of cataloguing; however, it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion.
Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement.
