Reference 5800 began production in 2006 and was discontinued only 2 or 3 years later. The example we have here has an Extract from the Archives that shows the watch was manufactured in 2009, making this one of the last produced ever. In total, there were about 1,500 made with only about a dozen coming back to the market since.
Desired due to its same case construction as the 3700 and 3800, the two differences between this watch and the 3800 are the slightly larger size and the sapphire display case back. This example just came back from a service at Patek Philippe and retains its service case back sticker.
The watch is in excellent, like-new condition. It underwent a full service at Patek Philippe in September of 2020 including light case polishing and a new crystal. The movement is running at time of cataloguing; however, it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement.
