Presented by Thierry Stern at his second year anniversary as president of Patek Philippe, Ref. 5235 is the brand’s very first annual calendar regulator wristwatch. Powered by the new in-house caliber 31-260 REG QA, the base movement architecture has been around since the late 1970s, but has been thoroughly built upon. Reading the name of the movement we can see "REG" which means regulator, and "QA" which means "quantieme annual," or "annual calendar." The 260 series movements are automatic with micro-rotors and power reserve up to 60 hours. Consisting of a central minute hand, a subsidiary seconds dial (at 6 o'clock) and a subsidiary hour hand at 12 o'clock, the regulator dial is remarkably modern and legible.
Accompanied by a presentation box, instruction manual, certificate of origin and leather book.
The watch is in excellent overall condition with only extremely minor signs of wear to the bezel. The movement is running at time of cataloguing; however, it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement.
