Launched in 2008 the Patek Philippe reference 5131 uses the same case and movement of the popular and reliable world time reference 5130, fitted with a cloisonné enamel dial reminiscent of the vintage world time reference 2523. Originally only available in yellow gold with a map of the Americas, Europe and Africa, the model was a year later introduced in white gold featuring a cloisonné map of Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania. It has been reported that due to the nature of hand-making each enamel dial the production of the 5131 is extremely low with an extensive waiting list, in addition, considering the hand-made and time-consuming process required, each dial made could be considered unique.
