The Rolex Submariner reference 5508 features no crown guards and was first introduced between 1958 and 1962. This model was nicknamed 'Small Crown James Bond' and is the last model that carries the 100m depth rating.
The nickname comes from the fact that models similar to this, without crown guards, were frequently featured in the early Bond movies. Today any Submariner without crown guards is referred to as a 'James Bond' model.
