Description

Before Nike was established in 1971, co-founder Bill Bowerman worked with Onitsuka Tiger on his innovative ideas to improve their popular Marup marathon shoe. One of Bowerman’s ideas resulted in the creation of the world’s first light-weight nylon running shoes. Once Nike officially formed, Bowerman renamed his nylon model ‘Marathon,' one of the first styles launched at the company and carried until 1977.
