Marketed as, “The Evolution of the Revolution,” LDV evolved from the revolutionary LD-1000 with adjustments to the shape of the heel and last. The use of nylon mesh was groundbreaking, creating one of the first breathable uppers. The iconic Waffle was named for the patented waffle iron-like pattern of the rubber outsole which Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman developed after being inspired by his wife’s waffle iron. The polygon stud technology increased stabilization with gripping edges that improved traction.
