A rare 1977 release of Nike’s revolutionary long-distance runner. It features the iconic waffle sole, named for the patented waffle iron-like pattern of the rubber outsole. The super-wide four-inch flared heel was intended to give runners increased stability and traction but led to an infamous recall due to injuries. Though backlash was anticipated, customers were supportive and appreciated the company’s noble efforts at innovation.
