Featured is the third installation of the Nike SB and MEDICOM TOY collaboration, which was released through the Medicom Japan online website. The third rendition features a leather silver-hued upper, covered in a reflective 3M. Speaking about the collaboration, Nike SB’s Senior Creative Director Jesse Leyva said, “Medicom is just part of the fabric of Harajuku. When you look at Harajuku culture, there's streetwear. Then within streetwear, there's art, music, sneakers and toys. It all goes hand-in-hand.”

The Nike SB Dunk made its formal debut in 2002 when Nike officially reappropriated the famed Dunk basketball sneaker originally designed in the 1980s with upgrades suited for the skateboarding community. The man behind it, former Nike executive Sandy Boedecker, is credited with building one of Nike’s most beloved subdivisions in the early 2000s with the Nike SB line.

What sets Nike SB apart from other competitive brands is the unbridled creativity, collaborators, materials, and whimsical highly thematic designs that define a generation of sneakerheads. Nike has explored hundreds of concepts – often with a sense of humor – through its Nike Dunks. Taking inspiration everywhere from beer bottles and horror films to jewelry and significant cities, Dunks represent some of the most beloved and creative models for the brand.
