Description
“The Air Mowabb is an excellent shoe for running on trails, riding mountain bikes, climbing hills, jumping streams or sprinting away from bears. It also looks kind of cool. Especially when you wear it with ACG, All Conditions Gear,” declared a Nike Air ad that ran in the fall of 1991.
Originally released and designed by Tinker Hatfield that same year, the Air ACG Mowabb quickly became a blueprint for Nike’s line of shoes designated for the outdoors. A hybrid between the existing Wildwood and Air Huarache sneaker models, the Nike Air Mowabb was reimagined with influences from the Native American moccasin and the wild landscape of Moab, Utah. The Air Mowabb was also one of the first Nike shoes to sport the now-iconic speckled midsole. Despite having been retroed numerous times in various colorways, the unique ACG (All Conditions Gear) logo sewn into the shoe’s upper is a mainstay detail of this legendary model.
