Lennon has signed the lending stamp to the inside cover 'J[ohn] W[inston] Lennon, IVC', and dated this '1955'. The details have been crossed through by the subsequent reader in 1961-2. This signed library book represents an especially early autograph from the future Beatle, at this time aged just 14; 'The Quarrymen' band was formed by John aged 15 and was named after the high school noted within this volume. Music aside, the subject of the book has a clear link to his later career as a dramatist; Lennon co-wrote the play A Spaniard In the Works with Victor Spinetti and starred in the film How I Won the War. An important item, accompanied by a statement of provenance from Paul Wane, one of the world's most respected Beatles specialists.

A piece of paper <a href="https://www.sothebys.com/en/buy/luxury/books-&amp;-manuscripts/book?locale=en&amp;Book%20Type=Signed%2520and%2520Inscribed" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">signed</a> by <a href="https://www.sothebys.com/en/search?query=The+Beatles&amp;pfilters.dateRange=upcoming" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The Beatles</a> in black ballpoint pen.<ul><li>The Beatles (English).</li><li>The autographs were obtained at Aeolian Hall, London, England on the 25th November 1964 when The Beatles appeared on the BBC Light program Saturday Club for the tenth and final time.</li><li>The rehearsal and recording for the show took place between 7.00pm and 10.30pm, t was broadcast on BBC radio on the 26th December 1964.</li><li>Paul McCartney has added ‘xx’ below his name.</li><li>There is some typing relating to the show on the back of the paper.</li><li>This work is presented unframed.</li></ul> The autographs come with a letter from the original recipient that reads: ‘I worked as a production secretary at the BBC during the 1960s. I worked for Ron Belchier who was the producer of Easy Beat and I married the producer of Saturday Club, Bill Bebb. I obtained the autographs of The Beatles at a recording session held at the BBC in London in the 1960s. The Beatles gave myself and several other secretaries their autographs and then stopped and chatted to us for a while. A wonderful day.’

Commissioned by Look Magazine to do a set of individual portraits of the fab four, he overlaid solarized prints with psychedelic Day-Glo colors and symbolic attributes. They were first published in the 9th January 1968 edition of Look Magazine in the U.S. and you could mail order your own set of “Flame Bright John, Flower Power Paul, Mystic George and Dove Loving Ringo.” They were also offered for sale in Stern Magazine in Germany, The Daily Express in England, and Varagids in Holland. All 4 printings were simultaneous in 1967 and there were 4 different printers, one from each country that printed the posters for their respective publication. The Look Magazine ones, offered here, are the largest of the series.

Between the years 1978 and 1986 Raymond Pettibon (aka, Raymond Pettibone; St. Pettibone) produced a now historic amassment of graphic works for the seminal Southern California punk band Black Flag. Published mostly by SST Records - founded by Pettibon's brother and Black Flag guitarist, Greg Ginn, these works shed valuable light on the origin and development of Pettibon’s thematic interests &amp; style; not to mention his evolution into one of the most important artist’s of his generation.

A collection of black and white <a href="https://www.sothebys.com/en/buy/luxury/collectibles/famous" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">negatives</a> bearing images of <a href="https://www.sothebys.com/en/search?query=David%20Bowie&amp;tab=objects&amp;sortBy=bsp_dotcom_prod_en" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">David Bowie</a> and The Spiders From Mars taken during their performance the Odeon Theatre, Hammersmith on the 3rd July 1973.<ul><li>Sold as a set of 27 35mm negatives.</li><li>The negatives are being sold with full copyright.</li></ul> After an encore, David brought on his friend and guitarist Jeff Beck for a medley of ‘The Jean Genie’ and The Beatles’ ‘Love Me Do’. Bowie hushed the audience and announced: “Everybody, this has been one of the greatest tours of our life. We really – first, I’d like to thank the band. I’d like to thank our road crew. And I’d like to thank our lighting people. Of all the shows on this tour, this particular show will remain with us the longest, because not only is it the last show of the tour, but it’s the last show that we’ll ever do. Thank you.” Only Mick Ronson had been told about this announcement prior to the concert whilst Woody Woodmansey and Trevor Bolder had not. The band played one final song, ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide’ after which David bowed three times, blew a kiss and left the venue – taking Ziggy Stardust with him.
