Catalogue Note
Sameer Al Daham was born in Riyadh in 1955. Originally training in communication at the King Saud University, Al Daham also obtained a diploma in teaching (1971) alongside attending many art courses. He is a founding member of the Riyadh Fine Art Group, established in 2001. Al Daham participated in multiple cultural initiatives as well as being involved in the publishing world, notably as a contributor to Al Jazeera and Al Fonoon. His artworks have been exhibited in multiple group exhibitions in both Saudi Arabia and abroad, including: Sixth Exhibition of the Arab in Kuwait (1978), Saudi Exhibition in West Germany (1981), Heritage Festivals in Riyadh (1975-1986), Cultural Saudi Weeks in Morocco (1977-2003), Algeria (1984), Paris (1981), Tokyo (1985), and many more.
This work is characteristic of the artist’s use of vibrant colours and amalgamation of architecture and landscape through a simplicity of lines and design to create his own vision.
