Description

Ferrari Art Edition by Pino Allievi, Piero Ferrari and Marc Newson.

  • Number 44 of 250 signed and numbered copies.
  • Signed by Sergio Marchionne, John Elkann, and Piero Allievi.
  • Folio illustrated throughout with colour photographs, many folding.
  • Publisher's hand-stitched red leather.
  • Upper cover with Ferrari emblem.
  • Housed in a sculptural bookstand designed by Marc Newson evocative of a Ferrari engine.
  • Includes an accompanying volume documenting all of Ferrari's victories since 1947.

Designed by Marc Newson, this luxury edition offers access to hundreds of photographs from the Ferrari archives and private collectors, including hundreds of unseen photographs, drawings and sketches to reveal the full story behind this iconic brand.

This Art Edition, limited to 250 signed and numbered copies, is elevated by a sculpture evocative of the 12-cylinder engine in hand-bent, flared chromed steel. The bookstand’s legs are made of chromed steel joined together using tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding, a process that produces stronger, high-quality welds, typical in the automotive industry.

Pino Allievi is an Italian writer and journalist. For years, he has documented the world of sports cars, both as a commentator of Formula 1 for Rai and writing for the likes of La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Working with Enzo Ferrari, Allievi wrote Ferrari Racconta, the founder’s last work. He has authored several books not only on the history of cars, but also on its greatest heroes, whom he often knew personally.

Allievi was a recipient of the journalistic prize Dino Ferrari, awarded by the creator himself.

Marc Newson studied jewellery and sculpture at Sydney College of the Arts before moving to Tokyo. Now living and working in Paris and London, Newson has become one of the world’s most accomplished and influential designers.

One of the most influential contemporary designers, Marc Newson has worked for prestigious brands including Apple, Louis Vuitton, Hermès and Jaeger-LeCoultre.

Born in Sydney, Australia, in 1963, Newson studied jewelry and sculpture at Sydney University and founded his eponymous brand in London in 1997. He is represented by Gagosian Gallery as a master of design alongside Frank Gehry, and his work is part of permanent collections at MoMA, Cooper Hewitt, the Victoria and Albert Museum and Centre Pompidou. Newson created the aluminum display case for Ferrari, sandblasting the chrome with powder to keep the metal’s natural feel, while finishing the top with Ferrari’s red varnish.

Giuseppe (Pino) Allievi is a journalist and one of the best-known writers of the automotive world, having written many books on the history of the car, including Ferrari Racconta. For years, he has covered Formula 1 for Gazzetta dello Sport and RAI. With boots on the ground, he is closely connected to race car drivers, crews and engineers. Contributing a dozen books on racing, Allievi has been honored with awards such as the Dino Ferrari prize in journalism. A bona fide expert on all things Ferrari, he edited the project for Taschen.
