Description
Elgin Watch Company was founded in Illinois in 1864, also known as Elgin National Watch Company, and it was the largest American watch manufacturer in producing "better quality" timepieces. Elgin maintained its name by producing self-winding movements made in the United States. In 1874, the company officially changed its name to Elgin National Watch Company and remained until the early 1960s when it stopped producing timepieces.
Honest Vintage: The Greg Selch Collection
A native New Yorker from a family of connoisseurs, Greg Selch has collected watches for over 20 years, among many other things. Over the years, Selch has become well-known for his passion: “orphan watches” as well as well-worn watches with patina, for which a term has been created: #selchism.

FairThe watch is in overall fair condition with moderate wear throughout commensurate with age. Case is scratched. Generic strap has signs of wear. Dial shows signs of patina. Hands have visible signs of patina. Bezel is worn and missing a piece at 12 o'clock. Crystal has visible signs of scratches. Caseback has minor signs of scratches. The movement is running at the time of cataloging, however, it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion.
