Description
The Rolex Datejust 1603 was released in 1959 and continued production for nearly two decades. The model was retired in the late 1970s. Typically, the Oyster case and fluted bezel attached to a Jubilee bracelet is the iconic trio easily identified as the Datejust. However, the 1603 stands out with the engine-turned bezel. The engine-turned bezel is only found on this reference.
Condition Report
The watch is heavily worn throughout and is in need of restoration. Case is in overall fair condition with moderate surface wear. Bracelet has moderate signs of stretch, scratches, and surface wear throughout commensurate with age. Buckle has moderate signs of scratches. Dial has spotting and discoloration, consistent with aging. Hands show signs of pitting and may have been replaced at previous servicing. Crystal has signs of scratches. Caseback has signs of scratches. The movement is running at the time of cataloging, however, it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion.
