Description
The panther is, together with the red color, the symbol of Cartier. Powerful and elegant, it was the favorite animal of Jeanne Toussaint and it symbolizes the charisma of the creations of the Maison. Very few timepieces have integrated the image of the panther to such an extent and in such a graceful way than the Panthère Secrète. The silvered dial is concealed by a yellow gold case decorated with diamonds and onyx resembling the face of the animal. The dial is revealed by pushing the surface of the panther upwards. This ingenious design allows the wearer to use the piece as a wristwatch as well as a high jewelry piece.
The Cartier Panthère Secrète instantly received a well-deserved recognition from prominent figures of the watchmaking world and was awarded the best "Jewellery Watch Price" at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève Asia Edition in 2009. Considered as a Haute Joaillerie piece, the model was produced in low quantities for a few years and is no longer part of the collection. This Panthère Secrète is a yellow gold quartz wristwatch, circa 2009, with 18K yellow gold case designed as a panther head set with brilliant-cut diamonds and onyx, sliding to reveal a silvered dial with Roman numerals and blued steel hands. Condition Report
Very GoodThe watch is in overall very good condition. All diamonds are intact. Case is in very good condition with minor surface wear. Bracelet has signs of stretch, scratches and surface wear throughout commensurate with age. Buckle is in good condition. Dial is in overall very good condition. The movement is running at the time of cataloging, however, it was not tested for the accuracy of time. The battery may need replacing at the buyer's discretion. Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement.
