Description

Theater poster for the French five act play by Louis Gouriadec.

  • René Gaillard (French).
  • Prochainement / Cocaine / La Splendide piece en 5 tableaux de Louis le Gouriadec.
  • Linen-backed paper.

This theater poster was designed by the French painter and illustrator René Gaillard for the five act play La Splendide by Louis Gouriadec, titled Cocaine. Although cocaine was legal in Paris at the time this poster was created, the grim and decadent images it shows hardly seek to glorify the drug. Gaillard lived and worked in Montmartre, Paris, and depicted some of the city's famous landmarks in this eerie poster.
