The first edition illustrated in line drawings and watercolors by French artist Maxmilien Vox, whose prefatory letter to the publisher Dent states "I have tried to attune myself to an art which never stresses, records only the essential, draws rather than paints: an art which aims at grace and rhythm rather than at intensity of expression. " Includes all six of the novels, plus a volume that collects Sanditon, The Watsons, Lady Susan, Plan of a Novel, and the Cancelled Chapter of Persuasion.
