Ian Fleming’s On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1963) follows James Bond as he pursues villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld, infiltrating his Alpine clinic. Bond falls in love with Contessa Teresa “Tracy” di Vicenzo, marries her, but tragedy strikes when Blofeld kills her. The 1969 film adaptation starred George Lazenby in his only Bond role, with Diana Rigg as Tracy and Telly Savalas as Blofeld. Supporting cast included Gabriele Ferzetti as Tracy’s father, Ilse Steppat, and Joanna Lumley in an early role. The film is noted for emotional depth, striking action sequences, and a faithful adaptation of Fleming’s original novel.
