Description

A limited first edition draft of XVI Cantos of Ezra Pound for the beginning of a poem of some length, with two prospectuses for Cantos XVI-XXVII.

  • Limited First Edition: #65/70.
  • Signatures of the Draft of XVI. Cantos and the prospectus are printed on Roma paper with deckled edges; pages of the Draft are watermarked "Ezra Pound" followed by the colophon for the Three Mountains Press.
  • Each canto is accompanied by an engraved initial, with titles and initial caps appearing in vibrant red ink.
  • Prospectuses contain the first pages of the twenty first and twenty fifth cantos as specimens, each with engraved initials.
  • Unbound, housed in a paper wrap.

Sparse foxing and faint water damage throughout the Draft along edges of signatures.

Duplicate pages of the first, second, and third cantos are printed on a different type of paper, with heavier water damage on the top edges, scattered yellow stains on the first page, and mild wrinkling in the bottom fore corners.

Partial duplicate of the eighth/sixth cantos is a single signature folded in the wrong direction, moderately soiled throughout, with the first page showing water damage along the top edge and some pencil notation near the bottom edge.

Prospectuses are mildly foxed throughout, with one showing moderate soiling on the first page along the inner edge and the other showing much lighter soiling.
