Description
A beautifully illustrated, inscribed volume with portraits of European royalty with notable provenance.
Inscription reads: "This book was brought to this country by J.W. Bouton of New York some thirty years ago was purchased from him by William H. Piper & Co. of Boston for $250 and was sold to Mrs. Sutton the founder of the Eben Dale Sutton Library (of the Peabody Institute), Salem Mass and was purchased from the estate by Charles Lauriat Co. of Boston. The various person through whos(sic) hands this book has passed are all of the opinion that the drawings are by Adrian van der Werff (1659 & 1722)." Signed in a different hand "John L. Dudley, Jr. June, 1911."
