First edition Alken's Sporting Discoveries with 7 hand-colored aquatint plates.

  • Oblong folio.
  • Uncut in original printed gray wrappers with letterpress title on upper wrapper.
  • Bound in three-quarter red morocco and cloth with original wrappers.


'First issue of a well drawn and finely colored set of plates representing shooting accidents, not easily met with in perfect state' (Schwerdt). The plates each bear the publisher's name and date Feb. 1, 1816.
