Description
Wanda Gág study of the Brothers Grimm classic, Snow White.
Wonderful signed and finished pen-and-ink study for the illustration appearing in Gág's Caldecott Medal Honor Book, Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs.
This illustration appears on page 39 of the first edition, published by Coward McCann in 1938. Snow White has fallen asleep after eating the poisoned apple and lies under glass cover in the woods. Prince Charming is approaching on the left, a dwarf sleeps in a tree to the right, and forest creatures watch in anticipation. A wonderful image; original art by Gág is quite rare.
