  • Maurice Joyant (French).
  • Volume names: Peintre; Dessins, Estampes, Affiches.
  • Paris: H. Floury, 1926; 1927.
  • 312, 284 pages.
  • The regular issue, illustrated with 58 plates (v.1) and 48 plates (v.2); all plates present, including the two original drypoints.
  • Text in French.
  • Original color pictorial wrappers, with original glassines.

Maurice Joyant was both Toulouse-Lautrec's art dealer and close friend and confidant. He is notably responsible for convincing Toulouse-Lautrec's mother to give her collection of his art to the Musée Toulouse-Lautrec, making it the best collection of his art in the world. This two-volume set is the first monograph on the artist, who died in 1901 at the age of 36. Organized into paintings and more commercial works, it offers a detailed overview of Toulouse-Lautrec's career, and beautifully reproduces a great deal of his output. It is unusual to find them in their original glassines.
