Description
First edition of this landmark biography of one of the icons of French Post-Impressionism and Art Nouveau, Henri De Toulouse-Lautrec, lavishly illustrated and in the original wrappers and glassines.
Maurice Joyant was both Toulouse-Lautrec's art dealer and close friend and confidant. He is notably responsible for convincing Toulouse-Lautrec's mother to give her collection of his art to the Musée Toulouse-Lautrec, making it the best collection of his art in the world. This two-volume set is the first monograph on the artist, who died in 1901 at the age of 36. Organized into paintings and more commercial works, it offers a detailed overview of Toulouse-Lautrec's career, and beautifully reproduces a great deal of his output. It is unusual to find them in their original glassines.
