American hammered sterling silver seahorse flask.

  • Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York, ca 1882.
  • Oval with curved sides and flat front and back.
  • On front is seahorse with ribbed body and volute-scroll tail floating amongst seagrass.
  • Back engraved with interlaced script monogram.
  • Allover spot-hammered ground.
  • Short neck with ball bearing-style beading.
  • Cork-lined cover is hinged and threaded.
  • Fully marked including maker’s stamp, pattern number 6855 (first produced in 1882) and director’s letter M (1873-91).

Condition Report

Patination and wear consistent with age and use.

Partially effaced maker’s stamp due to solder repair.
