  • Lithograph with collage and hand coloring on wove paper.

This lithograph with collage of fabric, thread and pencil is hand signed and dated in pencil by the artist "Christo 84" at the lower right corner. It is also hand numbered in pencil from the edition of 100 beside the signature. It was printed in a limited edition of 100 signed and numbered impressions by Landfall Press, Chicago and co-published by the artist and Edition Schellmann, Munich and New York. There were also 20 artist's proofs. The work has been inscribed with the number 50/100 by another hand in the lower left corner.

In the 1960s, the Marchese Annibale Berlingieri from Rome was an important collector of contemporary art. While visiting his country villa in Taranto, Christo noticed that the Marchese had an ancient carriage on the property. Christo proposed wrapping the carriage with fabric and created a spontaneous sculpture, to the delight of the Marchese. Christo created a lithograph of the sculpture which was editioned then collaged with fabric.

Another example of this work can be found in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago.
