Unreleased Air Jordan 1 Lows created in collaboration with KAWS, the New Jersey-born artist Brian Donnelly.

In 2017, KAWS worked with Jordan Brand to produce four Swooshless Air Jordan 1 Lows, each designed to match his daily uniforms. “I’ve worn and killed many pairs of them over the years (and still have many left) and they were never intended or available for sale,” KAWS stated on Instagram.

This pair features a seamless upper in ultra-tumbled leather with an elephant print-like texture across the model. Monochromatic from head to toe, the sneakers are accented with KAWS’ signature “XX” logo on the heel and his artwork printed on the insole. The removal of the Nike Swoosh across the profile gives the design a unique identity, while the classic AJ1 rubber midsole and outsole are finished in a matching tonal color.

Born in 1974, KAWS studied illustration at the School of Visual Arts in New York and briefly worked as a freelance illustrator on projects including Disney’s 101 Dalmatians and the animated series Daria and Doug. He began as a graffiti artist in Jersey City and later moved to New York City, where he developed his “subvertising” practice — creatively reimagining corporate and political ads in public spaces worldwide, including London, Paris, Berlin, and Tokyo.

Produced in extremely limited quantities, these sneakers were never intended for public release.
