Description

Cartier was founded in Paris in 1847, despite the uncertainty and disruption during the century's ongoing political upheavals. Cartier kept going strong and continued to see success and growth over the ensuing decade, opening its first boutique in 1859.

Cartier wanted to establish the company internationally, not only to make the Cartier name famous among the crowned heads of Europe, and was named "King of Jewellers, Jeweller of Kings." In 1904, Cartier launched their first Santos wristwatch, and followed it with other iconic wristwatches over the years.
