At the 1998 Grammy Awards, Bob Dylan performed “Love Sick,” a dark and haunting song from his 1997 album Time Out of Mind, an extraordinary comeback album from an artist who was decades into his career. Many fans and critics doubted Dylan could have pulled off something so profound, but they were quickly proven wrong as Dylan—clad in the present suit—picked up three Grammy Awards that evening, ascending even further towards immortality and earning even more institutional recognition for his craft and indelible influence on the American musical tradition at large.

What made the moment even more iconic: a shirtless man with the words “Soy Bomb” painted across his chest, jumped on stage mid-performance and began dancing in a tortured, manic fashion. Bob Dylan, meanwhile, completely ignored the man and continued to play the song even though he was inches away. Dylan's custom gray suit, designed by Henry Duarte, is prominently seen in the footage. The incident was later parodied by Saturday Night Live, with Will Ferrell portraying the man later identified as Michael Portnoy aka “Soy Bomb.”
