From the publisher, “Milosz, who received the Nobel Prize for Literature, wrote this sequence of poems in Warsaw in 1943, during the Nazi occupation, and it is considered among his greatest works. The English translation is his own. For the original Polish text, we ordered matrices to cast the special characters.”
