Description

Property from a Coral Gables Collection.

Louis XVI brass-mounted mahogany and marble fossil commode.

  • Three stacked and hand-dovetailed drawers raised on arrow feet.
  • Top drawer has three panels, but has one drawer divided within.
  • Drawers flanked by fluted stiles.
  • Brass door pulls and escutcheons added later.
  • Gray fossil marble top.

Marks, nicks, surface scratches, and a few small losses and repairs, particularly to feet, consistent with age and use.

Age cracks to the sides.

The veneers with scattered fraying, lifting and minor areas of losses.

Key lacking.

Marble top with a well-disguised repaired break through the center, as well as areas with infill and restoration, most notable to proper right back corner.

Scattered minor surface marks, scratches and small chips, and tiny losses to edges of marble top.
