Description

Polished brass hand mirror with a traditional design from the late Taishō period on a custom stand.

  • Mirrors were once rare and expensive objects, taking on religious, magical and artistic functions. Even today, the mirror of goddess Amaterasu enshrined at Ise is the most sacred object in Japan.
  • Large Kanji characters and signed on a raised dotted ground.
