Description

A large Japanese enameled and painted Seto porcelain vase from the Meiji period.

  • Pale green body encircled with branches bearing pink ume blossoms above a field of iris and roses.
  • Blue signature to base reading Masu-Kichi Seisu, Kitoken, made by Masukichi, and Kitoken being his sobriquet.
  • Kawamoto Masukichi was a potter who produced acclaimed pieces for the domestic and overseas markets from kilns in the Seto region during the Meiji period.
