Description

A pair of Japanese woodblocks from the late Edo period.

  • Utagawa Hiroshige (Japanese, 1797-1858).
  • Depicting Shimonoseki in Nagato Province (Chôshû Shimonoseki), from the series Harbors of Japan (Nihon minato zukushi), circa 1840-42.
  • The second depicts Shinobazu Pond at Ueno (Ueno Shinobazu no ike), from the series Famous Places in Edo (Kôto meisho), circa 1832.
  • Black hardwood frame.
  • Unglazed.
