Description

A group of small plates and bowls from the late Qing dynasty.

  • Sold as a set of 26.
  • Comprising 12 dishes and 14 bowls.
  • Decorated with the Four Seasons motif, a lotus represents summer, the chrysanthemums represent autumn, the plum blossoms represent winter and the peonies represent spring.
  • Each floral arrangement is positioned around a central peach, a symbol of longevity and marriage.

Provenance

Acquired in China in 1935 and thence by decent.
