Description

Danish Art Nouveau-style hammered sterling silver Louvre bowl.

  • Made by Georg Jensen in Copenhagen.
  • Bowl has curved sides; rim scrolled and notched.
  • Open leaf and tendril on round stepped foot.
  • Visible hand-hammering.
  • A small version of the Louvre bowl (number 19), so-called because an example is in the collection of that museum.
  • The Louvre bowl was designed by Jensen ca 1910, and reflects the master’s love of nature.
  • Fully marked including two maker’s stamps (1925-32 and 1915-30) and number 180B.
