Description

An 18th century German "hook and spike" polychrome iron wall clock.

  • Later painted iron dial features decorative crest with rose motif.
  • Clock face composed of an outer chapter ring with Roman numerals at the hours ,and an inner chapter ring with numerals marking the quarter hours.
  • Iron clock hands terminate in decorative brass tips.
  • Iron case with glazed and hinged doors hung by a suspension ring and spurs.
  • 30-hour weight-driven movement with verge escapement and cow-tail front pendulum.
  • Hourly count-wheel strike to the bell mounted at top.
  • Clock requires winding on a 30-hour cycle.
