Description

A set of French botanical engravings.

  • Sold as a set of 4.
  •  Stipple-engraved plates depicting roses printed in colors and finished by hand after Pierre Joseph Redouté (Belgian-French, 1759–1840) from the 1st octavo edition in 1824.
  •  Redouté was a painter and botanist from Belgium, known for his watercolors of roses, lilies and other flowers at the Château de Malmaison.
  • This set comes from the artist's series "Les Roses."
  • Each matted behind glass in gilt frames having text pages from the 1828 octavo edition of "Les Roses" in pockets en versos with a photocopy of the title page.
