Published in 2001 by Larkspur Press, Kentucky, Stone Eye is a collaboration between Richard Taylor, Kentucky's former poet laureate, Gray Zeitz, letterpress printer and publisher of Larkspur Press, and Canadian artist Wesley Bates who produced the woodcut engravings for the book. A total of 600 signed and numbered copies were released with 31 of these copies being set aside unbound so that unique bindings could be produced by members of the Guild of Bookworkers who were selected to participate in the 2002 exhibition.
