Description

Russian 875 silver trompe l'oeil table cigar box.

  • Rectangular with straight sides.
  • Hinged flat cover.
  • Gilt interior with interlaced script monogram.
  • Trompe l’oeil wood panels with realistic grain and tax stamps.
  • Marks include stamp for Moscow maker Ivan Zakharov and 1884 stamp for Moscow assay master Viktor Vasilyevich Savinsky.


Based on the packaging of H. Upmann, one of the largest makers of Cuban cigars. The firm was established in Havana in 1844. At the turn of the century, it employed 1,200 people, and the average annual output was 25 million cigars in more than 200 sizes. They were awarded gold medals at international exhibitions and were exported all over the world, including Russia.
