Description

American Art Nouveau repoussé silver martelé fish platter.

  • Made by Gorham in Providence on April 6, 1898.
  • Shaped and narrow oval well.
  • Tapering and chased shoulder.
  • At ends are scaly fish heads with eyes and tentacular whiskers.
  • Sides are ornamented with cherubs, ferried along in fish-harnessed shells.
  • Curvilinear rim.
  • Fully marked including maker’s stamp, pattern number 366 and 950-1000 FINE.
