Description

  • Sébastien Érard Grecian-style pedal harp.
  • Richly gilded fluted columnar support with the capital displaying carved caryatids and classical motifs.
  • The columns sits atop an undulating platform base with further Grecian motifs of Anthemia and Medusa, raised on paw feet.
  • Engraved on front brass arm plate: Maker by Special Appointment to his Majesty and the Royal Family.
  • The back brass arm-plate engraved Sébastien Érard Patent no 3179 To Great Marborough St London.
  • Sébastien Érard was from Strasbourg/France and left Revolutionary Paris in 1792 for London, where he established his first shop on Great Marlborough Street.
