A neoclassical-style bronze tazza or Athenienne made and signed by Emile Louis Picault, a well-listed French sculptor (1833-1915).

  • Depicts a romantic garden scene with a classically garbed couple, he with weapons of war, and she with a lute.
  • The composition is encircled by Latin phrases and names.
  • Signed lower right "E. Picault, sculp".
  • This piece memorializes the story of Herodias, the Jezebel of the New Testament.
