Description

John Fischer (Belgian, 1930-2016)

Born in Belgium in 1930, John Fischer was a multifaceted artist, pianist and composer. Fischer moved to New York in the 1960s where he was acclaimed by Marcel Duchamp and Salvador Dali for his unconventional bread sculptures that symbolized the emotional toll that WWII played on the artist. Fischer moved to Geneva in 1980 where he would not only continue to exhibit his art and perform music concerts throughout Europe, but cultivate a mastery of digital art (after having discovered the computer in 1979). This mastery lead him to be known today as the father of digital art and a pioneer in the field of computer generated design.
