Description

Louis-Jules Guedy (French, 1847–1926)

This work is offered in a carved 19th century giltwood frame


Born in Grenoble (Isère) in France, Louis Guedy was a pupil of Adolphe Yvon (1817–1893) at École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. When he moved to Pau in southern France, he opened a studio to the public. His works appear in many French museums, among which the Musée de l’Armée in Paris, the Hector Berlioz Museum in Côte-Saint-André, the Grenoble Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts in Chambéry and the Mainssieux Museum in Voiron, which includes a portrait of Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot.
