Description

A lifesize standing Buddha in the Northern Mandalay style.

  • A lacquered and gilded well proportioned and slender figure.
  • Uttarasanga slightly flared at the bottom and folded over the torso decorated with rosettes with gold leaf and glass gemstones.
  • Serene facial expression with downcast eyes and topped with an elaborate usnisa.
  • The hands are likely in a variant of the varadamudra gesture of benevolence.
  • Standing on a carved lotus and mounted to a black lacquered base.
