Son of western artist Bryon Wolfe, Wayne Wolfe was raised in an artistic household and graduated from the University of Kansas. Shortly after his father passed away, Wolfe quit working in the business world to apprentice under Robert Lougheed and study with Tom Lovell in Santa Fe. Wolfe now lives in Colorado and primarily paints the Rocky Mountain West. Painting trips have also taken him to Canada, New England, Europe and the British Isles.
Wayne Wolfe has exhibited widely and with success including at the National Museum of Wildlife Art, the Museum of New Mexico, Cincinnati Museum Center, Rockwell Museum and Gilcrease Museum, which honored him with a retrospective exhibition, and he is the recipient of numerous awards, including the prestigious Prix de West (1982) from the National Academy of Western Art. His work has been displayed in many national publications and books.
