Description
Made in close collaboration with George Lucas and Lucasfilm, this second volume covers the making of the prequel trilogy: Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
With the advent of CGI technology, the prequel trilogy to Star Wars got a sleek upgrade while acquiring its own cult-like status.
In the 1990s, writer and director George Lucas came out of a 22-year hiatus to start work on the prequel he had always intended to create. Understanding the rich dramatic story behind the characters in the original trilogy (1977-1983), Lucas wanted to explore the concepts of good and evil and how flawed protagonists can turn to the dark side.
The Phantom Menace (1999), Attack of the Clones (2002) and Revenge of the Sith (2005) trace the story of Anakin Skywalker’s training as a Jedi as well as his friendship with Obi-Wan Kenobi before he succumbs to his anger, grief and greed and becomes Darth Vader. Lucas also enriched the stories behind the corruption of the Galactic Republic, the rise of the Empire and the disintegration of the Jedi Order.
With a cast that included Hayden Christensen, Natalie Portman, Ewan McGregor and Liam Neeson, the prequel trilogy brought back beloved characters such as Yoda, C-3P0 and Chewbacca to fans of the original films while introducing a new generation to epic adventures of galaxies far, far away.
