Description
Rare and beautiful illustrated catalogue of drawings and prints collected by Henry Clay Frick, one of only 250 copies.
Magnificent fourth volume of prints and drawings by Durer, Van Dyck, Gainsborough, Jacob Maris, Meryon, Rembrandt, and Whistler, acquired by Henry Clay Frick before 1931 and reproduced “in all but a few instances” at their original size. The full catalogue of the Frick collection was begun in 1929; after a long hiatus in the 1930s and ‘40s, printing resumed under the direction of Bruce Rogers and was completed in 1956 with the twelfth and final volume. “Thus Mr. Frick succeeded in making his Collection speak its very literate message to all lovers of fine art.
