Description
Benjamin Franklin
A Pocket Almanack for the Year 1747. Fitted to the Use of Pennsylvania, and the neighbouring Provinces. With several useful Additions. Philadelphia: Printed and Sold by B. Franklin, [1746]
24mo (100 x 51 mm). Woodcut borders and symbols; title-page foxed, one or two stray spots, very light browning. Contemporary marbled paper wrappers; worn with some loss, backed with paper. Housed in a custom slipcase and folding chemise.
First edition, and a rare example of Franklin's Pocket Almanack, in original wrappers: "B[enjamin] F[ranklin] lists only the 600 copies he sent to Parks in Williamsburg, Green in Annapolis, Fleet in Boston, and Mrs. Timothy in Charleston" (Miller).
Very rare.
